All About Body Sculpting

What is body sculpting?

Body Sculpting is a controlled fat reduction and body contouring procedure.  It's a non-invasive approach to creating a more sculpted appearance.  Body Sculpting safely removes stubborn fat deposits from the body. If you have difficulty shedding fat in any area of the body, this treatment may be your solution. The most significant benefits of Body Sculpting are Body Shaping and Contouring, Skin Tightening and Toning and Cellulite Reduction.

How does it work?

Basically, heat and sound waves are used to break down fat cells. Ultrasound technology uses sound waves and radiofrequency technology uses the heat waves. These waves penetrate your skin and together they break down stubborn fat into smaller, more liquified pieces. The liquified fat is then disposed of primarily through the lymphatics system, but also through the urinary tract system.

How should I prepare for the treatment?

It's best to schedule at least 2 hours after a meal. Ideally, a morning fasted appointment is the best. You will want to consume at least 2 liters of water before your appointment

What can you expect on your day of treatment?

You can expect your Body Sculpting professional to start out by taking your body measurements and a few before photos.

Next, she'll begin by preheating the skin for about 15 minutes.

She'll then follow the preheating with a radiofrequency device for another 15 minutes. The Radiofrequency therapy will heat the skin to a safe 104 degrees. Radiofrequency waves also benefit the body by heating the connective tissues, fibers, dermal collagen, as well as the fat cells. This heat energy softens the connective tissue and stimulates the production of new collagen for improved skin elasticity and the improvement in appearance of cellulite.

The ultrasound device (cavitation) will follow for 15 minutes. The ultrasound therapy causes fat cells to move around at a rapid pace causing them to hit and bump each other. In the process, the fat cell membrane becomes compromised allowing for the break-up or liposis of the cell.

She'll then use a Vacuum Radiofrequency device to perform a more aggressive lymphatic massage for about 15 minutes. Using suction and pressure, this device will move the liquified fat toward the lymphatic system for removal. The Radiofrequency continues to heat the connective tissues where fat cells are tightly bonded. As the connective tissues are heated, fat cells are more easily released. The Vacuum will then bring the connective tissue back together while also eliminating the liquified fat. The whole process will improve the appearance of cellulite.

She'll follow this lymphatic massage with a wood massage also for the purpose of moving the waste toward the lymphatic system. Lastly, she'll take another set of measurements and after photos for comparison. As a side note, you can expect to hear an inner ringing in the ears during the ultrasound portion of the procedure.  The RF Vaccuum can be somewhat aggressive and may cause some bruising. This is normal.

Total Time Commitment: 60 min per treatment area. We will treat no more than 2 areas in one visit.

What are the post care instructions?

HYDRATE, HYDRATE, HYDRATE!  This is the most important part of your treatment.  Your body requires water to assist the lymphatics in the removal of waste.  Drink at least 2 liters of water following your treatment.

Avoid caffeine and Avoid Alcohol throughout your treatment program. Caffeine can inhibit proper hydration and alcohol can interrupt your liver's ability to remove fat waste because it will be competing to remove your alcohol instead. Alcohol can also inhibit proper hydration of the body. If you can't leave the caffeine or alcohol behind, you should consume about 4 extra cups of water for every one caffeinated or alcoholic beverage.

Avoid large meals for at least 1 hour after your session.

Diet: You'll want to follow a well-balanced diet. Click here to calculate your caloric requirement.  This means you'll need to consume this many calories to maintain your current weight. If you are trying to lose a few pounds, you can safely cut about 10% of this calculated number to begin losing a healthy amount of weight.  You should consult your health care clinician prior to the start of any weight loss program.

Movement: You'll want to walk 30 minutes 6-7 days per week! This is just a basic heart healthy recommendation and will improve many aspects of your health to include bone health, heart health and mental health. It is best to walk right after your treatment to improve the lymphatic drainage!
